- After obtaining a law degree from Monash University, Nick taught law. He then worked for a suburban legal practice, something which completely destroyed what little enthusiasm for the law remained after a couple of years of teaching it. He abandoned the legal profession, which had sustained at least three previous generations of Trumbles, and clawed his way into the advertising business.
